Mother's Day 2011

Caleigh is graduating on Saturday! Jason and I arrived in Jacksonville this weekend to spend a few days with the fam. We are all caravanning to Virginia on Tuesday. We’ll see how that goes. ;D Anyway, Sunday was Mother’s Day, so all the Mayerlen/Owens crew (minus Caleigh!) went to church at Parkwood Baptist, as Julie led worship, Corey played drums and Clay played the guitar. It was truly a family affair. We grabbed a quick and easy lunch at Jason’s Deli, then sent the little ones home to nap. Jason, Gabriel and I went with mom and dad to the cemetery, where we met my granddad, Aunt Sandy and Uncle David to put flowers on my grandmother’s grave. It's hard to believe that she has been gone 15 years.

Our big Mother’s Day celebration took place Sunday evening. We packed up dinner, coolers, a grill, toys, presents, and table decorations and drove all the way to St. Augustine to Palencia Park. A lot of effort, but thankfully it was well worth it! The menu consisted of hot dogs, chips, pasta salad and carrot cake. The park is perfect for family gatherings, and the play equipment is a huge pirate ship! We enjoyed swinging, climbing, sliding, kite-flying, horse-shoes, fishing, football, basketball, bubbles, and baseball. We crammed a lot of activity into a few hours!!

It was a fantastic evening and a great Mother’s Day! A perfect way to celebrate our Mama! The only thing that would have made the day perfect was for Caleigh and our Owens' family to be there too! We love you Mom!
